4. It has already been renewed for a second season.

Manhunt is the most watched UK show of 2019! Its ratings were fantastic, coming in at 9.2 million viewers, trailing only behind the international success of ITV’s Bodyguard in 2018. With all that success from critics and fans alike, it’s no wonder the show was set to return for a second season!

We don’t know much about the follow-up season except that Martin Clunes will be returning, but we can assume it will probably air sometime within the next year or two and be focused on a brand new case.

3. It focuses on the behind-the-scenes of crime-solving.

Most crime television shows are all about the action, high-speed chases, hitting the streets to chat with witnesses, and Manhunt does have some of those elements but most of its focus is what really goes on behind the scenes.

Crimes aren’t generally solved the way they are in primetime crime shows, with one detective at the lead. Instead they’re a cumulative effort from a hard-working team. Manhunt shows this by demonstrating the delegation of tasks, the laborious hours spent pouring over CCTV surveillance footage and following up on leads that, many times, go nowhere. It adds an interesting sense of realism to the show without making it any less riveting.
