Deadly Class Season 1 finale recap: 5 most shocking moments that prove we need a second season
5. Peppermint killing Chester
I’ll be honest that I saw this coming. When Marcus learned what Chester does to the dogs, it was clear that Peppermint was going to be the one to attack. Whether she would kill Chester or not I didn’t know. I’ve not read the Deadly Class graphic novels (yet) and I chose to remain spoiler free from the journeys of the characters to keep this exciting and enthralling.
Seeing the actual ending happen was epic. It all made sense. Peppermint got her revenge against the man who defiled her. Animals can be vicious when they need to be and when they feel attacked. Don’t once think that they’re cute and cuddly.
However, it was the look of betrayal in Chester’s eyes. This is something Tom Stevens shared about the character in his interview and had hoped it came across and it certainly did. Chester believed that he was loving to the dogs, that they were his friends. That dominance wasn’t mean or vindictive in his head.
This was something he explained to Marcus, too. He said that Marcus was his friend and the attack was hurtful. At no point during the boy’s home did Chester think that he was hurting Marcus, showing just how deep these psychological problems are. Chester felt betrayed when someone stood up for themselves, including Peppermint, who decided to bring an end to everyone’s tormenter.
