The season finale of Legacies was action-packed, emotional, and everything fans could have asked for. But now we’ve got questions for Season 2.

Between the TRAID vs. the Salvatore students showdown, Josie almost dying, Hope and Landon officially saying “I love you” and Hope’s ultimate sacrifice, the finale of Legacies was an awesome send off for the debut season.

While “There’s Always a Loophole” provided us with some answers, it also gave us plenty of new questions to ponder during the long hiatus before the show returns for a second season.

5. Could a species change save the twins from the Merge?

I started considering this when Josie almost died from the sludge bullet. For a moment, when Alaric gave Josie a vial of Hope’s blood to save her life, I thought it wouldn’t work and she would die anyways — that Hope’s blood would make her come back to life as a hybrid.

Ultimately, that doesn’t happen. We learn the reason Hope’s blood worked as a cure is because she is the loophole in the Malivore law. She is a witch, vampire, and a werewolf, the three beings that cannot be harmed or affected by the pit.

Still, I was left wondering if the show might eventually change either Lizzie or Josie’s species. The Vampire Diaries universe is sort of known for surprise twists of that nature. They still have several years before they have to worry about the Merge but it’s certainly something to think about.
