2. Will Alaric remain headmaster?

An unfortunate by-product of Alaric’s long-standing tenure battling the supernatural is he has learned many crafty tricks against the same species he’s now trying to help. The blood fountain TRIAD used to disable all magical abilities in the school and the secret tunnel entrances were installed by Alaric, who thought, one day, he might need a way to control his students should they ever prove a threat to the world.

In reality, it was them who needed protection from the outside. Alaric feels intense guilt for having played a part in putting his students in danger and he admits his faults to the entire school. He wants them to be able to decide if he should continue on as their headmaster or not.

The episode ends before we can find out how the honor council votes. If Alaric is given the boot, I wonder if Dorian could take his place? I also wonder if it might be a plot device to let Alaric and Landon go on a mission to track down Hope.

1. What part does Clark have to play in all of this?

I admit I was shocked when Landon killed Clark. It showed a killer instinct from him we haven’t seen before. There was no hesitation on his part, he simply reacted with murderous intent. Of course, Clark isn’t actually dead, he comes back not long after, but I wasn’t so sure it wouldn’t be permanent.

I was even more surprised when Hope decided to take Clark with her before jumping into the Malivore (also that mimicry spell was super cool and kind of creepy). What will happen to him down there? Is he going to confront his father? Will he be an enemy to Hope or an ally?

Odds & Ends

  • Kaleb has shown so much growth over the season, he’s one of my favorite characters now.
  • Is Raf’s continued difficulties with managing his wolf/human side going to be a problem in Season 2?
  • I love how the episode with the jinnie foreshadowed the finale, Lizzie finally has a world without Hope.
  • MG and the gorgon-girl (whose name I don’t recall) are cute, I wonder if she’ll actually return or not. Also, I guess the stone people were all saved since they seemed sure they could restore the evil TRIAD agent.
  • Are Emma and Penelope really gone for good? I hope not.

Legacies will return for a second season on The CW.
