4. Not everyone has been groomed

During The Enemy Within, Keaton and Daniel manage to arrest Tal’s chief operations guy, Sam. He doesn’t want to help everyone at first, but that’s not because he’s been groomed. Sam has another reason for working with Tal.

Tal had promised that Sam would get the name of the man who had tortured and killed his girlfriend, Nadia. With a backstory of the leader of the protestors during the Arab Spring Protests, we learn that Nadia had been brutally tortured before being killed and Sam wants revenge.

It just shows how manipulative Tal can be. He grooms Anna from a young age and he can coerce Erica through threats against Hannah. However, Tal can also manipulate people into joining him. After all, Tal promised something he was never going to deliver.

What’s interesting is who this promise came from. This is where the next takeaway comes into play.

3. A Serbian guy with a scar

There was a throwaway line about the man who had recruited Sam for Tal. Everyone seemed to overlook this, but the description was important – well, it’s usually important for shows like this.

Sam makes a point that the man who recruited him was a Serbian with a scar on his hand. Surely, the way to Tal is to go through each of his recruiters. By knowing the description of this one, they’ll know of someone to look out for, right?

Naturally, it’s not going to be a case of looking out for a guy with a scar on his hand. However, I bet that they’re going to come across someone who fits this description at some point during the rest of the season.
