Brooklyn Nine-Nine boasts one of the best comedy ensembles of any television comedy right now, so picking an MVP every week is as difficult for me as it is for Gary to not bring up he was shot by Amy every five seconds! But darn it, I’m going to try!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6, Episode 13, titled “The Bimbo,” sees Holt and Jake investigate a case involving missing coins at Kevin’s university while back at the precinct, Amy and Terry go to war over who’s better at taking the squad out for lunch. Although the lunch plot has its moments, it’s just too hard not to cheer for any storyline that focuses on the show’s best dynamic of Jake and Holt.

These two just bounce off each other in a way no other pairing does and knowing how much Jake wants to impress his pseudo-father all the time, it’s nice to see a storyline where Jake helps Holt overcome his own insecurities. Sure, we’ve seen this setup before, but these two actors are so good, and the episode is so funny that it doesn’t matter if it all feels a little familiar.

Though it’d be easy to award Holt the MVP for this episode for placing him in a situation where he’s the Jake of the group (making actual Jake *gasp* the Hitchcock), this week’s MVP award goes to the show’s best guest star, the man behind the man, none other than the head of the Classics Department at Columbia University himself, Kevin. Why? Check out his five best moments below

1. He’s not afraid to show PDA in the office

Jeez, Kevin and Holt, get a room! Kevin first appears at the precinct to visit his husband and upon their goodbyes, the two exchange an incredibly hot, incredibly seductive handshake. I know Jake worries for a second in this episode that Holt and Kevin are getting a divorce, but if he were around to witness this incredibly graphic handshake, I’m sure he’d change his mind. Everyone, get you a man that shakes your hand the way Kevin shakes Holt’s hand.

2. Can he still quote every Nicholas Cage film?

This episode actually has a significant number of callbacks to past adventures, but the best is the references to “Safe House” where Kevin and Jake had to spend weeks trapped in a safe house together. The highlight of that episode was Jake and Kevin watching every Nicholas Cage movie, much to Kevin’s chagrin.

In this episode, Jake calls back to that, hoping that Kevin retained that information despite the insistence that he purged it from his brain. In the end, Jake was right as Kevin quickly quotes The Rock. Can’t escape the Cage!

3. He knows Jake pretty darn well

Kevin and Jake’s relationship has certainly come a long way since Season 1, and that’s proven in this episode where it actually seems the two are quite friendly with one another. Where once, Kevin might have been annoyed at Jake’s desire to play with his laser pointer, now Kevin happily hands it over, explaining that the laser pointer is a misnomer, as the device is really just a laser, and the person using it is actually the pointer.

Can we sign up for Kevin’s class? Because he’s teaching us what we all need to be taught.

4. Has standards when it comes to watching Mahler’s Fourth Symphony

The reason we like Kevin is because he’s almost exactly like Holt when it comes to sophistication and class. Which means Kevin should’ve known he was being suspicious when he said he’d be OK with sitting anywhere while watching Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.

It was the clue that set Holt on the path to discover the truth and their confrontation lead to Holt threatening to buy tickets in the Center-Left section! Of course, Kevin couldn’t keep his composure and quickly confessed, because obviously, you can’t sit in the center left section when watching Mahler’s Fourth Symphony!

5. Creates his own kerfuffle

Sometimes you got to create your own kerfuffle for love. After a whole episode of watching the condescending Dean Allister chide Holt for his past kerfuffles while trying to impress the scholarly staff, Kevin finally stands up and defends his husband. He tells everyone in the room that Holt is a great man and an even better detective and hopes to one day live up to the standard that Holt sets.

Wow. That moment alone deserves a very special PDA, which is, of course, is another firm handshake.
