Dissecting that super intense Shadowhunters Season 3 finale trailer

The trailer for the Shadowhunters Season 3 finale makes it clear that Alec will be recruiting a few more members of his usual team and find a way to get to Edom in his attempt to rescue Magnus. We can see that they will be successful in finding him, but we don’t yet know how they’ll be able to escape or what sacrifices might need to be made along the way. We can see that Jace, Clary, Simon, Isabelle, Lorenzo (who’s no longer a chameleon), and Meliorn are all fighting alongside Alec, and that Magnus will be using his powers in Edom to fight back against someone or something else.

We were absolutely shook when we saw that Jace and Simon would have a training scene together, and since the episode synopsis refers to how Clary will find a way to unite Shadowhunters and Downworlders to try and stop Jonathan, it makes sense that we’ll see members from both groups learning from one another. Clary gives Simon a talk about her destiny of becoming a Shadowhunter, but it helps segue into another dramatic moment with Luke, who is wearing RUNES.

Putting two and two together, we’re assuming Praetor Scott wanted Luke to get the vial of Heavenly Fire so that it could be used on Luke himself, turning him first into a mundane and then back into a Shadowhunter. We just don’t know why. We also caught a few glimpses of the Royal Malec Wedding at the Institute, complete with Madzie as a flower girl.

The biggest conflict presented of course is Jonathan, who is no longer being held back by the twinning rune and is putting on a destructive show in New York. He’s going to draw Clary out into the streets where he’s already caused so much destruction, but it will be much more difficult to wrangle him than she had imagined.

The trailer only shows us a quick glimpse at Maia’s role in the Shadowhunters Season 3 finale, and she’s telling someone that they can’t be afraid to open their heart to the people that they care about. We don’t know who she’s talking to or the context of the scene, but we have our fingers crossed we’ll get to see her be a phenomenal Alpha.

Alright, let’s dig into these new photos and sneak peek clips:
