3. Bring back Penelope.

I’m confused as to why Penelope was written off towards the end of season one. She and Josie’s relationship was a fan-favorite and it happened in a way that felt organic and well-earned by both characters. Penelope is charming and talented with plenty of untapped story potential.

Suddenly her character is forced to leave the Salvatore Boarding School. I didn’t see anything about her actress landing another, competing, job, so this decision leaves me vexed. I’m hoping her absence is short-lived.

2. Give MG a nice love interest.

MG hasn’t had a solid love interest yet on the series. The closest probably came from his brief romance with Nia, who was introduced towards the end of the season. Of course, MG also has a notable crush on Lizzie, for the moment, it hasn’t been returned. He also had a short-lived fling with Penelope.

MG is one of the sweetest guys on the show. He’s genuine and soft-spoken, he deserves to have a legitimate relationship on par with many of the others we’ve seen on the series. I don’t know if it will pan out in season two but I’m hopeful! I would love to see Nia return. They had sweet chemistry.

1. Continued monster-of-the-week format.

When Julie Plec announced that the new show in the Vampire Diaries universe would follow a monster-of-the-week format as opposed to being 100% serialized, it was met with a mixed response from fans. When the show premiered, the monster-of-the-week format turned out to be the best decision for Legacies.

It fit well with the series and recalled the glory days of past popular teen supernatural shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With the way Legacies wrapped its first season, the malivore is potentially out of the picture.

It is my hope that Plec and the writers continue to follow the MoTW formula because it allowed for many fun, exploratory, episodes and introduction of many beloved legends and lore.
