2. Monica Reed shared a connection with one of the deceased.

During the segments of the episode not focused on Myfanwy’s journey, we see an agent named Monica Reed arrive from America. She has a tense relationship with Linda and the other London-born agents. Reed is let in on the case because she has intel on at least one of the bodies and no one else has been able to identify them.

Conrad takes Monica to the morgue to identify the body. She asks to be alone. Conrad steps out of the room, but she isn’t allowed to see the body without the mortician present.

The man on the table is horrifically mutilated. His jawbone was forcefully sent backward and sliced his carotid artery. Monica is visibly upset by the sight. Suppressing her emotions (barely), Monica tells Conrad “he was one of ours” before storming off.

I get the feeling Monica could become a dangerous enemy to Myfanwy if she believes Myfanwy had anything to do with that man’s death.

1. Do not trust anyone.

By episode’s end, Myfanwy has decided not to let down her past self, who tearfully begs her to find out who did this to her in one of the video clips. She shows up at the office and settles in at her desk where she finds another letter.

This letter claims Myfanwy initially believed the person who attacked her was an outside force. In an ominous voiceover, we learn that isn’t the case. Whoever hurt Myfanwy is inside Checquy, and inside the meeting room where Myfanwy sits among her peers.

Her past self’s final words of advice are “do not trust anyone.”

Odds & Ends

  • Conrad is having an affair with the Home Secretary woman. I didn’t catch her name. It appears they put her husband to sleep when they hook up?

Chapter Two of The Rook will premiere July 7th at 8/7c on STARZ.
