Big Brother 21 Episode 9 begins

Big Brother 21 Episode 9 began with a recap of the events of last week. The main title sequence did not appear in this episode.

Fallout from the previous episode

Nick was furious with Kemi Fakunle over her speech. Kemi had called out Isabella “Bella” Wang and Nick in her eviction night speech. Bella was upset with Kemi’s speech as well. Jessica Milagros was feeling good about surviving the eviction, but nervous about Nick being Head of Household. In a diary room session, Kemi explained why she called Nick and Bella out at the live eviction.

Cliff Hogg III questioned Nicole Anthony if she was the one who cast the hinky vote. She denied doing it (it was Jackson Michie) but she felt like it was going to be pinned on her since she was friends with Kemi. This made her nervous about her safety in the game.

Nicole went up to MIchie and told him that she was getting a vibe that the hinky vote was being pinned on her. Michie explained in a diary room session that he cast the hinky vote to pin it on Nick or Bella. However, since Nick won HOH, Michie blamed Nicole for it to Nick. Nick told Michie he was thinking about nominating Cliff and Jessica for eviction. Nick also proclaimed his loyalty to Gr8ful and Sam Smith.

Bella vented her frustrations about Kemi’s speech to Cliff and Sam. Kemi was then called in to the diary room. On her way to the diary room, she overheard Bella’s venting and a confrontation ensued. Kemi and Bella had to be separated by Sam after the fight nearly got physical.

Michie revealed to Jack that he was the one who cast the hinky vote. Michie also informed Jack he was blaming Nicole for it. Nicole walked by during the conversation but remained oblivious to what they were talking about. Nicole denied being the hinky vote to Holly Allen and Michie. Michie and Holly tried to play it off like it wasn’t a big deal and that people thought it wasn’t her.

The Gr8ful alliance discussed who to nominate for eviction. Nick said he was leaning towards Cliff, Jessica, and Nicole for his nominations. Nick felt Nicole was being honest about not being the hinky vote. Bella and Nick suspected it was Michie that cast the hinky vote because he was paranoid about it and too adamant that it was Nicole. As a result, Nick felt putting up Nicole wasn’t necessarily in his best interests.

Nicole and Nick talked about the hinky vote. Nicole told Nick she was worried when Nick won HOH because of her association with Kemi. She felt because of that, the hinky vote would be pinned on her. Nick told Nicole he knew it wasn’t her that cast the vote. Nick promised Nicole she would not be nominated this week.

Panic Whacktivity Comp

After that conversation was shown, it was time for the Panic Whacktivity Comp. The Panic Whacktivity Comp is the final Whacktivity Comp of the season. Analyse Talavera, Christie Murphy, Jessica, and Nick were scheduled to play.

In the Panic Whacktivity Comp, players had to move around Madagascar hissing cockroaches in order to see symbols on an elder stone. They had to decipher the meaning of the symbols to spell out a message. To spell out the message, they had to grab letter tiles off a plaque and place them on the finish board.

Once they felt the answer was correct, they had to ring in the button to lock in their time. If they were correct, they would hear a ding. If they were wrong, they had to continue playing until they got the answer correct.

Christie won the Panic Whacktivity Comp by spelling out the message “don’t meet Julie on eviction night” first. Christie’s time was 7 minutes and 41 seconds. For winning the Panic Whacktivity Comp, Christie was awarded the Panic Power.

The Panic Power allows Christie to turn the Golden Power of Veto into the Diamond Power of Veto. If Christie chooses to activate the Panic Power, the Power of Veto holder would not only be able to remove a nominee from the chopping block but name the replacement nominee as well. The power can only be used once, and it is good for the next four Power of Veto ceremonies.

Post Panic Whacktivity and last-minute scrambling

Christie vowed not to tell anyone except for Tommy Bracco. Christie then told Tommy about her power. As Christie was telling Tommy about her power, Jack Matthews walked into the room. Jack revealed Ovi Kabir’s Nightmare Power to Christie and Tommy. Then, he revealed his own Chaos Power to them as well. Tommy was happy about Jack sharing news of the Chaos Power, feeling reassured about Jack.

Nicole revealed to Kemi she had figured out the dynamics of the house. Kemi then informed Nicole that Bella told Kemi Christie had overheard Cliff. Nicole then relayed this information to Cliff. Cliff realized he had majorly screwed up. He vowed to continue his Cliff Notes but realized he needed a quieter voice. Cliff and Nicole planned to distance themselves a bit as a result of Nicole’s information.

Cliff then had a conversation with Nick in an attempt to rebuild trust. He told Nick he was okay with being nominated as long as it was as a pawn. Cliff then reiterated that he wanted to work with Nick and Bella. However, unbeknownst to him, Cliff was Nick’s true target this week.

Then, we saw a segment about Kat’s oddball personality. After that, Kemi was called into the diary room to get her Camp Comeback uniform. She felt the Camp Comeback uniform was ugly and promised to bring it what it lacked. On her way out of the diary room, she tripped and fell.

In the Head of Household room, Sam pitched nominating Michie and Jack to Nick and Bella. Sam pointed out that Jack, Michie, Analyse, and Holly would all save each other. Nick wasn’t sure if he was ready to take the shot at Gr8ful because of the Camp Comeback twist.

Nicole was still not feeling safe even after Nick promised not to nominate her. She also revealed in a diary room session that Michie had told her Nick and Bella were targets. Nicole then relayed this information to Nick and Bella. Naturally, Nicole’s news upset them.

Big Brother 21 Episode 9 concludes: nomination ceremony

Big Brother 21 Episode 9 concluded with the nomination ceremony. At the nomination ceremony, Nick nominated Cliff and Jessica for eviction. Nick revealed he was considering putting up Jack and Michie. However, he didn’t go through with it because he didn’t have a chance to talk to anyone he was close with. He vowed to backdoor one of them if Nicole’s information was true.
