10. Power Rangers

Original Release Date: March 24, 2017

Box Office Earnings: Power Rangers grossed a total of $142.3 million against a production budget of $100 million. It finished fourth at the box office in its second weekend with a 64% gross. It didn’t quite achieve the amount the studio was hoping it would.

Critical Acclaim: Critics were mixed on Power Rangers. The movie has an approval rating of 50%. The film fared better with audiences, of which 65% enjoyed it.

About the Role: Banks got to play the incredible campy villain, Rita Repulsa. Rita was the former Green Power Ranger who went rogue and killed her former teammates. Her evil plan in this film is to steal the Zeo Crystal and bring the monster Goldar to life.

Simply the Best: Despite not having great critical reviews, Saban’s Power Rangers was a terrifically fun movie that many people missed. In addition to starring Banks, the film also stars other fantastic actors you’ll recognize like Naomi Scott, Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston, and RJ Cyler.

Plus, it was the first blockbuster film to feature an autistic and LGBTQ+ superhero on-screen. It was meant to be a reboot of the franchise, and currently, there are rumors a sequel may still happen despite the low box office performance. Elizabeth Banks was also nominated for Choice Movie Villain at the Teen Choice Awards for her role.
