A brand-new episode of Big Brother 21 aired last night on CBS. It was Big Brother 21 Episode 22. In the previous episode, Tommy Bracco had just won Head of Household on his 29th birthday. Christie Murphy thought she was going to have an easy week with Tommy as HOH. However, America’s Field Trip was soon announced to the houseguests. Three players would be selected to compete in a special competition where the winner earned safety for the week, second place received a punishment, and last place was a special third nominee.
Jackson Michie, Analyse Talavera, and Christie Murphy were selected for the competition. Michie finished first, Analyse finished 2nd despite trying to throw the competition, and Christie finished last, putting her on the block. For finishing 2nd, Analyse had to wear a chicken costume for the week. At the nomination ceremony, Tommy nominated fan favorites Cliff Hogg III and Kathryn “Kat” Dunn for eviction.
Tonight, we saw fallout from the nomination ceremony, pre-Power of Veto planning, and the Power of Veto Competition. After the Power of Veto Competition, we saw last-minute scrambling, and the Power of Veto ceremony.
Big Brother 21 Episode 22 begins
Big Brother 21 Episode 22 began like most episodes do, with a recap of the events that led us to where we are now. After the recap, the main title sequence was shown. After the main title sequence, Big Brother 21 Episode 22 began where Episode 21 left off, at the end of the nomination ceremony.
Nomination ceremony fallout and pre-Power of Veto scrambling
Tommy explained that Kat was nominated because she had good working relationships with everyone except him and she was his target. Cliff was nominated as a pawn. Tommy felt that he had to win the Power of Veto because he couldn’t let Christie go home on his HOH.
Cliff hated being on the block but knew if Christie was still nominated on eviction night, he could get her out. Christie felt her being the third nominee was the worst-case scenario because it was Tommy’s HOH reign. She knew if she didn’t win the Power of Veto, there was a good chance she could go home. Michie hoped he would get picked to play in the Power of Veto Competition and win it so Christie would go home.
Kat was upset about being nominated for eviction and being nominated next to Cliff. Jessica Milagros, Cliff and Michie went to comfort her. However, Kat still didn’t trust Michie. Christie was hoping Nick Maccarone would get picked to play for the Power of Veto because Nick promised to use the Power of Veto on her.
Christie continued to lament being on the block during Tommy’s HOH to Nick and Jessica, who comforted her. However, Jessica considered getting rid of Christie in private.
Then, we were shown a segment about how Nick had a crush on Tommy. Despite his previous showmance with Isabella “Bella” Wang, Nick and Tommy were cuddling, Tommy also revealed he thought Nick was amazing.
Tommy was released from his BB Explorer punishment, which incurred at the previous week’s Power of Veto Competition. Tommy had hated this punishment.
Power of Veto Competition
After Tommy was released from his punishment, it was time for the Power of Veto Competition. Tommy was already competing as Head of Household. Christie, Cliff, and Kat were already competing as nominees. Two others were picked to play by random draw. Nick and Michie were selected to play this week.
Cliff pumped himself up before the Power of Veto Competition by giving himself a pep talk and dancing. Michie tried to convince Analyse that Christie needed to go. However, Analyse wasn’t buying what Michie was selling and tried to convince him otherwise. Michie, however, wasn’t buying what Analyse was selling.
This Power of Veto Competition was the classic OTEV Competition. For this competition, OTEV would give them a clue to a competition that happened during the summer. Then, players would have to go into the swamp and pick the correct item. Once they thought they had the correct item, they would have to return to their stump and present OTEV with the item they found.
There would be one less stump than players in each round. If you were last to arrive and everyone was correct, you were eliminated. In the final round, the first player to arrive with the correct answer won.
Michie was eliminated in the first round. Cliff was eliminated in the second round. Kat was upset about what she did to beat Cliff for the final spot. However, Cliff told her it wasn’t a big deal and felt it would be better if Kat continued instead of him since his leg was bothering him.
Christie was eliminated in the third round. Kat was eliminated in the fourth round. The final round came down to Tommy and Nick. In the end, Tommy defeated Nick to win the Power of Veto.
Cliff was upset about losing the competition because he knew he had his fate in his own hands and lost it. Michie was upset with himself for not winning the Power of Veto because his shot at Christie was now gone.
Power of Veto ceremony
Big Brother 21 Episode 22 concluded with the Power of Veto ceremony. At the Power of Veto ceremony, Tommy used the Power of Veto to save Christie. Since Christie was a special third nominee, there was no replacement named. This left Kat and Cliff as the final nominees for the week.
Cliff lamented letting another opportunity to take out a big target slip through his fingers. He vowed to do what it took to stay in the house. Nicole Anthony knew she had a decision to make on who to evict and losing a number either way. Jessica hated having to choosing between evicting Cliff and Kat. Kat felt this was the worst-case scenario. She almost felt it would be worse if Cliff got evicted over her.
Tune in tonight at 9 pm eastern to see who gets evicted. It’s sure to be a sad night either way.
