25 best primetime fall TV shows to check out in 2019
24. Prodigal Son
When it returns: Prodigal Son doesn’t actually return to the fall TV lineup. It premieres for the first time on Monday, Sept. 23 at 9/8c on FOX.
Season it’s on: It’s only the first season that we’re getting introduced to when it premieres next week.
Why watch it: Is Michael Sheen enough of a reason to watch Prodigal Son? It is for me. Sheen is a chameleon when it comes to his roles, and there’s no doubt about that just from the promos for this series.
For those who need a little more than one actor, this is one of the new thrillers of the year. A man who has been haunted with the knowledge that his father was a serial killer tries to make up for that by catching serial killers as a behavioral analysist. Are you ready to delve into the world of killers?
23. The Resident
When it returns: The Resident had see a shift of night, premiering on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on FOX.
Season it’s on: The show is entering the third season when it premieres.
Why watch it: If you love medical dramas, this is a series for you. Unlike most other medical dramas, the patient-driven storylines have a darker element to them: the cost of medicine. Just the pilot episode opened up with the idea of the hospital’s chief being happy that someone was on life support forever because of how much the hospital would make from it.
However, there is still a heart to the fall TV show. The doctors and nurses are the ones that keep the heart there, despite the coldness of the chief.
