Bob’s Burgers: Ranking the premieres including The Ring (But Not Scary)
10. Season 6: “Sliding Bobs”
The first episode to make the list is easily my least favorite and that’s the premiere episode from season 6. Entitled “Sliding Bobs,” this episode is a trilogy as it features three different stories told by the kids of their parents first meeting since Bob is losing his mustache and Linda admits that his mustache is part of the reason why she fell in love with him. Considering how exciting “The Oeder Games” was to conclude season 5, “Sliding Bobs” felt like a major let-down.
What makes this episode unappealing is that it reimagines a world we already know. Maybe this is a personal preference, but Bob and Linda’s relationship is the crux of the show and it shouldn’t be messed with. Changing the origin and thus the dynamic of it doesn’t further anything for the plot or make sense with the rest of the season. It’s a really confusing way to start off season 6 but that isn’t what makes the episodes particularly unlikable.
Even though each story ends with Bob and Linda together, the beginning and middle aren’t on par with regular Bob’s quality. The story that’s especially unsettling is the one where Linda marries Hugo which is a conclusion that Tina, unfortunately, comes to.
Overall, “Sliding Bobs” isn’t a terrible episode, but it doesn’t have the same charm as the other episodes on this list nor does it have a larger impact in the plot of the series.
