8. Season 8: “Brunchsquatch”

Season 8 of Bob’s Burgers is arguably their best season to date. That doesn’t mean that the season is entirely perfect though. Starting the season off with “Brunchsquatch” would have been a good idea but it was the poor execution that ruined this one. Before getting into that, let’s talk about what actually happened in the episode.

“Brunchsquatch” is about Bob’s Burgers serving brunch in an effort to attract customers while the kids agree to hide Felix Fischoeder in exchange for them getting a dog. The premise is great as normally, it would have been a perfect way to start a season. Where this episode felt flat was the concept for it. In theory, creating an episode entirely out of fanart is brilliant as it showcases the plethora of talent in the fandom. In practice, the episode looked messy and confusing with the art styles changing in the blink of an eye.

Even though the episode wasn’t bad, it wasn’t as well-received because of all the different art styles. It was hard to concentrate on the episode’s plot with everything changing so swiftly. It would be nice to see the episode in the traditional Bob’s Burgers style but ultimately, the hundreds of different art styles were too distracting. “Brunchsquatch” has a great plot but it doesn’t carry the episode.
