2. What is going on with Layla?

Layla is going through something. Olivia sees right through her paper-thin veneer, but no one else does. Even Spencer doesn’t appear to realize how much Layla is suffering at the moment. Although to be fair, he’s got a lot on his plate. Layla claims her dad is back home, and they’ve been visiting house-hunting.

The last we saw of her, she was destroying her house. Layla’s excuse is that she did it so her father would think there was another break-in and come home, “and it worked!” she exclaims cheerfully to a skeptical Olivia.

But we see later on that Layla is living out of a hotel room. She receives a text from her father, who is definitely not in Beverly Hills. So, what’s the deal, Layla? How long before things get worse and other people begin to catch on?

1. Who called in the tip about Spencer not living in Beverly?

While Spencer is in limbo between Crenshaw and Beverly he learns from a new character, Rochelle, that the state championship may be jeopardy due to an anonymous tip that Spencer moved out of the Bakers. If it’s discovered he is back in Crenshaw, then his time on the team will be erased and invalidate the state championship win. Let’s spend a second here talking about Rochelle. She presents some new possibilities.

Apparently, she graduated Beverly and is quite in-the-know about all things football as her dad is the “number one booster,” and she’s involved in the sports world herself. She requests Spencer have dinner with her and her father, but he politely declines. I have a feeling he won’t be able to escape her for long. It would appear Rochelle has some kind of agenda. I’m just not entirely sure what it is yet.

We don’t find out who called in the tip, but I’m guessing it was either Rochelle or Olivia. We know Olivia isn’t above manipulation if she believes it’s for a good reason. She was the one who took Billy’s resignation letter off his desk and requested he get more vacation time. Why wouldn’t she call in a tip to get Spencer back in Beverly?

Is it just me, or did she seem a little too happy about Spencer’s arrival back home? I have a feeling her crush on Spencer didn’t go away as wholly as she claims. TVLine seems to concur with this theory.
