High School Musical franchise(2006-2008)

In reality, all three HSM films were equally memorable in their own way, so they all deserve to make the list. This Disney film series was Zac Efron’s big break and the spark for his ascent to stardom. Starring as Troy Bolton in an ensemble cast that included Vanessa Hudgens (as Gabriella Montez), Ashley Tisdale (as Sharpay Evans), Corbin Bleu (as Chad Danforth), Monique Coleman (as Taylor McKessie), and Lucas Grabeel (as Ryan Evans), this movie series was as memorable as it was musical.

Essentially, the HSM films centered around the lives of six high schoolers who were undergoing the rigors of teen life. For Efron’s character Troy Bolton, this meant juggling his blooming romance with Gabriella, his role as basketball team captain, and starring and singing in “high school musicals.” The last HSM flick was meant to be a culmination as the characters prepared to leave high school and thus faced tough decisions as adulthood approached.

This film series had it all, with singing, dancing, romance, rivalries, and an up-and-coming cast. The first movie, released in 2006, afforded the chance for Efron to woo and charm audiences with his singing and acting abilities. And boy, did he succeed. Not only was the first High School Musical film among the most successful Disney Channel Movies, but the second one is still ticketed to this day as the DCM with the most viewership during the premiere.
