The next set of killers to be introduced on Mindhunter could very well include Bundy, Gacy, and Dahmer as well as the West Memphis Three and more.

Mindhunter Season 3 is currently delayed on account of David Fincher’s work schedule. The Netflix series will be on temporary hiatus until Fincher is finished filming Mank, a biopic based upon the life of Herman J. Mankiewicz while he wrote the Oscar-winning film Citizen Kane. It’s possible that we won’t get to see Mindhunter again until mid-2021 or even as late as 2022.

However, that gives us plenty of time to guess which case the profilers will tackle next. The series is based on the book “Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit” by FBI unit chief John Douglas, one of history’s first criminal profilers and the inspiration for the series protagonist, Holden Ford.

In the book, Douglas recounts how he created criminal profiles, analyzed crime scenes and interviewed convicted serial killers. Almost all the killers interviewed by Holden, Bill, and Wendy in the series were met by Douglas in real life, including Ed Kemper, David Berkowitz, Charles Manson, and Richard Speck. However, there are many men and women listed in the book that have yet to find their way into Mindhunter.

Because last season did not end on a major cliffhanger, there’s a chance that the series could make a slight time jump. Season 2 ended around 1981 and if given a time jump, the next season could find itself between the late-’80s and the mid-’90s when Dahmer, Bundy, and Gacy were around and when the controversial trial of the West Memphis Three took place. Two other men that might be included are James Earl Ray and Donald Harvey.
