This Is Us is no stranger to award nominations. The hit TV drama has been nominated for five Critics’ Choice Awards in 2020.

Awards season is upon us. The Critics’ Choice Association announced their nominations on Sunday, revealing five different nominations in regards to This Is Us.

First up is the big one – Best Drama Series. This is the show’s third nomination in that category, with the first occurring in 2016 upon the show’s debut. This Is Us came up short to Game of Thrones in 2016 and The Handmaid’s Tale in 2017. This Is Us was previously nominated for Best/Outstanding Drama from the likes of the Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, MTV Movie & TV, NAACP Image, Teen Choice, Writers Guild of America, People’s Choice, GLAAD Media, and Satellite Awards.

Next up, we have Sterling K. Brown, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series. Brown previously won the same award in 2017, while Milo Ventimiglia was nominated for it in 2018. In addition to his 2017 win, Brown has achieved similar awards from NAACP Image, Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

To compliment her on-screen husband, Susan Kelechi Watson has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. This is Watson’s first nomination for this award, but it’s not a first for the show. Chrissy Metz was nominated in 2017 for her role as Kate Pearson.

As for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Justin Hartley has received the nomination for the second year in a row, but he’s not the only one. Hartley is facing competition from newcomer and fellow nominee, Asante Blackk, who was introduced this season as Malik. Blackk was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for his work in When They See Us, which was nominated for Best Limited Series.
