Adam made his return in Supernatural Season 15’s fall finale, but he wasn’t the only one. Here’s everything that happened in the fall finale.

With everyone in their lives at risk, Team Free Will decided it was time to pull someone major into the fight against God. While Adam made his return (along with Michael), there was another major reveal in the Supernatural Season 15 fall finale. It’s time to delve into everything that happened in “Our Father, Who Aren’t In Heaven.”

Heading back to Hell

It all starts with Team Free Will learning that their friends are in danger, but also focusing on the fact that they can’t kill God or creation doesn’t exist. They need to lock him away, which brings Donatello into it all to read the demon tablet (yes, even with the risk of him going crazy) to figure out how God locked Amara away.

One thing they do figure out is that God is going to fight against the Winchesters, killing everyone they know to hurt them. So, it’s time to take the fight to him, and the demon tablet shares that “God’s favorite” helped him lock Amara away. They all assume that was Michael since Lucifer had been cast down by this point.

That means heading to Hell. They need Michael’s help, which means springing him from the Cage. So, off they go, only to get attacked by three demons. Just as it looks like they’re all going to die, another familiar face turns up.

Oh, yes, Rowena is back! You see, when she took the souls of Hell back to, well, Hell, she died there. Her soul was trapped there, and she made sure she would become Queen of Hell. Oh, and it suits her!

It’s just a shame Michael isn’t in the Cage. When all the doors in Hell opened, Michael decided to leave. And he took Adam with him. Now Adam is Michael’s guide in the world, because Michael isn’t sure what he’s going to do next.

Lilith pays Michael a visit

Lilith turns up at the diner that Adam and Michael are hanging out in. She needs Michael to go with him to God, who wants to recruit his eldest son. Michael isn’t interested in going to see God, so decides to smite her instead.

So, is that Lilith done with? I’m guessing so, but this is Supernatural and it seems she was a little underused.

One thing that happens though is that Donatello gets a hit on where Michael is. And those hits keep on coming. With knowledge of roughly where Michael is, Castiel decides to pray to his brother to get him to help with the God case.

Team Free Will vs. Michael/Adam

When Michael agrees to meet with Castiel, it’s all a trap (although we do get a reminder of “Hey, Assbutt”). Castiel traps Michael in holy fire, allowing Dean and Sam the chance to put the angel cuffs on Michael and take him back to the bunker. Can they get Michael/Adam to help?

After initially taunting the Winchesters for leaving Adam behind, Michael allows Adam control of the body. The two had come to an agreement in the Cage. They did only have each other, after all. It turns out Adam wants to hear “I’m sorry” from the Winchesters, and that makes sense, but Michael needs to know more.

Ever the loyal soldier, Michael refuses to believe anything bad about God. He’s sure they’re lying about it. Adam knows that the Winchesters believe that God is the bad guy, so he decides to talk to Michael for them.

Castiel gets the chance to show Michael the truth about God. It’s time to make Michael understand that God is the bad guy and he’s not God’s favorite at all.

Michael offers up a spell to help, but it will require a Leviathan blossom, which only grows in Purgatory. Michael opens a doorway to Purgatory, allowing Dean and Cass to go through. Michael isn’t going through, though. He’s leaving, with Adam. He does allow Dean the chance to apologize to his little half-brother, bringing us the touching moment we’ve needed for so long in Supernatural.

Sam joins Eileen on a hunt

While Cass and Dean try to help Michael, Eileen and Sam head out on a case. Eileen gets a call from a friend, who has a case involving vampires. When the friend is attacked, Sam joins Eileen to help. Felt like it was a trap? Oh, yes!

It turns out it wasn’t Eileen’s friend after all. God pretended to be the friend.

And so we’re left with these storylines as they are. Sam and Eileen face God, while Dean and Cass head to Purgatory not knowing that Sam is in God-sized trouble. Michael/Adam are off somewhere in the wind. Well, that’s a way to leave us for the Supernatural fall finale.

Odds and ends:

  • God is able to control Donatello and get messages through to the Winchesters.
  • Dean continues to push the idea of Sam and Eileen. Sam wants to fight against it, but we all see that those two work.
  • Rowena slays it as the Queen of Hell and makes it clear that Castiel and Dean need to patch things up right now.
  • Richard Speight Jr. managed to bring us an excellent episode once again. It was easy to tell who was Adam and who was Michael. Bravo, Jake Abel.
  • I loved how we got to see Michael and Adam interact with each other.
