From Shakespeare in Love to Iron Man, Gwyneth Paltrow made her mark as a movie star. Here are the Academy Award winner’s 10 best movies.

Even though these days, Gwyneth Paltrow is more likely to lead a boardroom meeting for Goop than a major blockbuster, she was once one of Hollywood’s hottest movie stars. She’s still putting in time in front of the camera when her booming business gives her a minute, like in this year’s Golden Globe-nominated Netflix series The Politician, but she has taken a conscious step back from the acting career that awarded her with an Oscar, an Emmy, and a place in Avengers history.

Gwyneth Paltrow began her career with small roles, including one in the NBC miniseries Cruel Doubt in 1993 alongside her mother, Blythe Danner. She first appeared in the movie Flesh and Bone before breaking out in Se7en, Hard Eight, and Emma. Paltrow scored a banner year in 1998 when she starred in five high-profile big-screen releases, one of which was her breathtaking Academy Award-winning turn in Shakespeare in Love, and continued to earn praise for her performances in The Talented Mr. Ripley and The Royal Tenenbaums.

Of course, following an era of hit or miss movies and a hiatus for motherhood (and the creation of Goop), Paltrow starred in Iron Man, which helped kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way. While balancing indie films, an Emmy-winning guest role on Glee, and building her brand with cookbooks, health summits, and e-commerce, she continued to appear in Avengers films until their final conclusion with Endgame. But through all of the ups, downs, and conscious uncouplings, she’s always been a true Hollywood icon, through and through.

Which fan-favorites made the cut and which timeless classic took the top spot? Here’s our celebration of Paltrow’s best films and performances of all time!
