Dramatic movies about teenagers living with cancer have had mainstream success in the recent past but Then Came You seems to have slipped through the cracks. It stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) as the two leads and takes more of a comedic turn than most in the genre.

To start, Butterfield’s Calvin is a hypochondriac who is convinced he has cancer (but doesn’t.) His doctor has him go to a support group to see if it helps him cope with whatever is driving his paranoia. There he meets Williams’ Skye and for a young woman with a terminal illness, she’s a ball of energy. They are complete opposites but Skye forces her way into Calvin’s life and the two develop a very interesting friendship that does end up changing Calvin’s outlook. She does this by inviting him to help her clear her bucket list which leads them on many wild adventures.

The movie is mostly full of laughs but it will hit you with the heavy stuff by the end. If you decide to watch this one have your kleenex handy.
