5. “Spaghetti Western and Meatballs”

Season 1, Episode 11

What happened?: “Spaghetti Western and Meatballs” features two plotlines. The episode focuses on Bob and Gene bonding over a Western film series that they both love. As a result, they start hanging out more thus causing Louise to become jealous. As for the minor plotline, we’re following Linda as she signs up to host a spaghetti dinner in honor of a club that Tina’s a part of.

Why it’s one of Gene and Louise’s best: While this episode does focus a lot on Louise and Bob’s relationship, it focuses just as much on Louise and Gene’s. The reason why it made the list is that we see how scared Louise is to lose her bond with Gene.

In the episode, Gene ignores her at times and it really upsets Louise. Plus it’s only fair to assume that Louise looks up to Gene a little bit as he is her older brother.

Most people might not pinpoint this episode as a Gene-Louise episode but I think otherwise. It’s one of the rare moments that we see the two not getting along. Exploring that in Season 1 was an interesting move and is something that helped build the basis for their relationship. Nevertheless, “Spaghetti Western and Meatballs” is an early Bob’s Burgers episode but one that tells us a lot about Gene and Louise’s sibling relationship.
