With 21 seasons and 3 spin off version of Big Brother in the books, we decided to take a look back at Big Brother history. Now, we’ve decided to take a look back at the 5 best players to never win Big Brother. This will include the Celebrity and Over the Top version of the show.

To qualify for this list, these players had to have fallen short in their goal of winning Big Brother. It helps that people remember their game and talk about them as one of the best to never win. Checking in at No. 2 is Janelle Pierzina.

No. 2: Janelle Pierzina

When you think of a competition beast in Big Brother, you think of Janelle. Janelle holds several Big Brother records that will likely never be broken. She is the only person to ever play 3 times, she holds the record for the most competition wins in a single season (9) and the most individual competition wins over multiple seasons (15) assuming you count coaches competition wins. Otherwise, she comes 2nd with 13. Janelle is also currently tied for the 2nd (with James Huling) most days played in the show’s history with 177.

In Big Brother 6, Janelle was the lovable underdog who found herself on the outs early and often. She was perhaps known best for friendships with Kaysar Ridha and Howie Gordon. She was also known for the fights she got into with Jennifer Vasquez and Beau Beasley. During BB6, Janelle won every America’s choice vote.

She also won 4 competitions: 2 HOHs and 2 POVs that helped her reach the final 3. Unfortunately for Janelle, she lost the final HOH Competition to Ivette Corredero and was evicted. Janelle cast her jury vote for Ivette to win the season.

Janelle returned for Big Brother 7: All-Stars the following year by way of a public vote. Along with her were fellow Season 6 castmates James Rhine, Kaysar, and Howie. If Janelle wasn’t a legend before, this season definitely made her one.

Janelle won 4 HOHs and 5 POVs for a record 9 competition wins in a single season. 4 out of the 5 times she won POV, she used it to take herself of the block. As a result, she never faced eviction until the final 3. At that point, she only faced eviction because she lost the final HOH competition to Mike “Boogie” Malin.

After losing the competition, Boogie chose to evict Janelle out of revenge for Janelle evicting his closest ally, Dr. Will Kirby at the final 4. Janelle ultimately cast her jury vote for Boogie to win. Boogie would continue to hold a grudge against Janelle for evicting Dr. Will 6 years later when the two competed on Big Brother 14.

For Season 14, Janelle returned as 1 of 4 coaches alongside Boogie, Dan Gheesling, and Britney Haynes. Janelle chose to mentor Wil Heuser, Joe Arvin, and Ashley Iocco for the season. During the season, Janelle won 2 out of 3 coaches competitions. She used her wins to save Ashley in week 2 and Wil in week 3 respectively.

On week 3’s live eviction night, the coaches were given the chance to enter the game as full-fledged players. It only took one person to say yes for the houseguests to enter as players. Janelle accepted America’s offer to enter as a player along with Dan and Britney.

However, an old grudge Boogie held came back to haunt Janelle. In week 4, Danielle Murphree won HOH. She nominated Frank Eudy and Wil with the intention of evicting Frank. Danielle also won the POV that week and it looked like Frank was going to be out the door.

However, Boogie was able to get into Dan’s ear and convince him they should get rid of Janelle instead. With Dan on board, Dan and Boogie were able to convince Danielle to use the POV on Frank and name Janelle the replacement nominee. At the live eviction, Janelle was evicted 8-1. This marked the first time Janelle failed to reach the final 3 or even the jury stage of the game.

It takes a lot to get to the final 3 twice and she was absolutely amazing when it came to the competitions. She’s not only one of the best to never win, but one of the best to ever play, period. It is only because of a ridiculous grudge that Janelle failed to make at least the jury stage a 3rd time. She was well equipped to make a solid run if that didn’t come into play.

I don’t fault Janelle for the grudge either. Six years is a long time to hold on to something ridiculous like that. You have to move on from that kind of thing. It is a game and betrayals are going to happen.
