5. “Easy Com-mercial, Easy Go-mercial”
As noted in the previous slide, no list would be complete would this episode. Entitled “Easy Com-mercial, Easy Go-mercial,” this is the Bob’s Burgers Super Bowl episode and what an episode it is. In true Belcher fashion, things go awry when Bob tries to capitalize on the Super Bowl but along the way, realizes that maybe he took things a bit too far. In the end, though, he learns to appreciate what he has.
The episode follows Bob deciding to buy air-time for a commercial to air during the Super Bowl as a way to attract business. The rest of the family is excited as they all want to have a part in the commercial. Add in Sandy Frye, retired NFL player turned actor who Bob prefers over the family commercial and it’s a recipe for disaster including when Bob learns that Sandy starred in a commercial for Jimmy Pesto, too.
Thankfully, Bob apologizes to the family in the end and with Gene flooding Jimmy Pesto’s bathroom, they’re still able to steal a few customers.
Of all the episodes on the list, this is easily the least “sporty.” While it does focus on the Super Bowl, it’s more about the commercial and Bob realizing how wrong he was. However, it is worth the watch as we get to see the family commercial in the end and it features the Super Bowl so it’s basically a given. This one probably won’t be anyone’s first choice though so that’s why it’s at the bottom of the list.
