Lesson #2: Sometimes it’s okay to ask for help

This last lesson is one that kids seem to remember but adults don’t which is weird. Regardless, Tina learned the hard way. Somehow, Tina always ends up learning the hard way with these lessons. While there are multiple examples of this particular lesson, the most recent that stands out to me is Season 8’s “Go Tina on the Mountain” which is easily one of the best episode titles but not the best situation for Tina.

After being branded with a horrible nickname, Tina is ready to reinvent herself during a class trip. She meets a hermit who claimed that she climbed a mountain near where the kids are staying. Rather than wait for Gene and Louise, Tina decides to climb it herself and ends up in trouble. Thankfully, they get to her in time and her sibling along with her bullies and Mr. Frond work together to save her. It’s a pretty intense episode for Tina and one that sometimes gets swept under the rug.

In this case, Tina not asking for help could have killed her. While it’s usually not as dire for the rest of us, it’s an important lesson to think about. Asking for help isn’t always bad and most of the time, people are willing to help. Thankfully, Tina got some help and was able to get out of the situation she was in.
