Danai Gurira left as Michonne on The Walking Dead in the early episodes of Season 10. Now over half a season in, do you think the show can survive without her?

There’s no denying that Danai Gurira’s exit as the badass Michonne on AMC’s The Walking Dead is obvious. The news broke earlier last year and fans were absolutely devastated. Michonne may not be an original TWD character, but she quickly became one of the family and an instant fan favorite.

Many deaths and character departures have happened in the last several seasons, including Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes and Chandler Riggs’. Carl. We also miss Lauren Cohan as Maggie full-time, and Glenn’s (Steven Yeun) death still stings. Needless to say, The Walking Dead is completely different from how it was a few years back. With Gurira no longer a series regular (and a questionable future), TWD may as well be a new series. But does it feel this way? Can the series go on without Michonne?

From what we have seen so far this season, audiences are completely engaged. Let’s be honest, though, TWD isn’t what it used to be and the ratings it achieved before simply aren’t there. However, The Walking Dead‘s fan base is not going anywhere.

Michonne has been missed during these last several episodes, but is expected to return soon. She won’t be back full-time, but will, supposedly, continue making brief appearances. This isn’t by any means why fans continue to watch, though. Let’s be fair and give credit where credit is due: The Walking Dead continues to surprise audiences with twists, especially since it is no longer based on the graphic novels.

The character development and Whisperers storyline have been strong and viewers are excited for new episodes each week. It’s safe to say that, though Michonne is missed, fans will continue to watch.

How do you feel about The Walking Dead and where the series is now? Do you feel it would be better with Michonne or are you fine with how things are?
