What could a live-action Beauty and the Beast prequel series with Gaston include?

Disney Plus has a Beauty and the Beast prequel series in the works, but what could it include? Maybe we’ll see Gaston eat four dozen eggs.

It seems Disney is bringing the history to light for another one of its longtime villains. This time, it won’t be to the tune of a movie as was the case with Maleficent, but rather a Disney Plus live-action limited musical series currently in the works. It seems Gaston will be getting this treatment.

As of now, both Luke Evans and Josh Gad are reprising their roles as the muscular Gaston and timid LeFou respectively, according to THR. Sadly, this means no Emma Watson or Dan Stevens will make appearances. That said if Stevens did appear that would kind of be weird since he plays the Beast in the story and no one really knew of him until Beauty and the Beast. It isn’t too late, though, for Watson to come around, considering no release is known and the development news only broke earlier this week.

I’m all for this in concept but I do have one question. How will it do in regards to transforming Gaston from a repulsively take-what-he-wants type into one you’re supposed to feel for or is that not the point of the prequel? I suppose it could focus more on his sidekick, LeFou, but then comes the purpose of that. His entire being up until this point has been as the sidekick of Evans’ character.

In the live-action adaptation, though, they took it a step further by heavily implying LaFou was subject to unrequited love, but that’s beside the point. Maybe, just maybe, the six-episode live-action prequel series will shed some light on how they met. That idea certainly would be a welcome one.

Better yet, maybe we’ll see Gaston’s childhood and how much of his self-titled song was just locker… ehh… bar talk.

This series is one in a mass number of properties Disney has decided were worthy enough to bring back and turn into an original. Others include the long-since ended Proud Family, Mighty Ducks, and they’re even in the process of a spin-off on the live-action Aladdin based on Prince Anders. It seemingly doesn’t end there, but you get the point.
