2. “Lorenzo’s Oil? No, Linda’s”

Before getting into Season 10, there is one more episode to talk about. There aren’t many episodes between Seasons 8 and 9 that feature Gayle aside from two. “Into the Mild” and “As I Walk Through the Alley of the Shadow of Ramps” both feature Gayle but as part of the secondary plotline. This list is focused more on Gayle as part of the main plot, but those two are worth a mention.

The episode from Season 9 that we’re talking about is “Lorenzo’s Oil? No, Linda’s.” The episode features Linda becoming obsessed with essential oils and deciding she wants to sell them. She goes to an essential oil party and it’s going great until Gayle finds out. Upon finding Linda there, Gayle tries to help her see that it’s basically a scam and Linda will end up owing them money. Eventually, Gayle is able to convince Linda that it’s a bad idea and they leave the party without Linda getting sucked in.

This episode is special for a few reasons as we get to see the kids bonding with their Aunt Gayle which is rare. Additionally, Gayle is trying to help Linda instead of the other way around. While Linda is resistant at first, it’s nice to see her take Gayle’s side. Overall, the episode is unlike most of the Gayle-centered episodes as she’s the voice of reason this time. Gayle does act a little whacky but she brings it all together in the end.
