4. Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law

If you’re looking for an animated show to take your mind off everything, Adult Swim is the best place to start. The network has such a vast catalog of wacky animated shows to choose from. The show making my list is pretty old in comparison to others. Originally airing from 2000-2007, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law was unlike anything during that era and there hasn’t been anything else even remotely close to it since.

For those who haven’t watched, the show is basically one huge parody as it parodied the original Harvey Birdman series of the 1960s and all of the other Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the time. The show features Birdman taking on a case and him basically having to defend different iconic characters. Some characters who made appearances were Shaggy Rogers, Fred Flinstones, the Jetson family and Dynomutt. Somehow, it manages to pay homage to these characters and their shows while still making them the butt of the joke.

With each episode having an average run-time between 11 and 12 minutes, it’s a pretty quick watch. You can blow through an entire season in only a matter of hours. While some episodes are “heavier” than others, there’s a lot of humor sprinkled throughout. As someone who binged the entire series last year, I think it still holds up. With Birdgirl getting her own series at some point, now is the perfect time to watch or rewatch Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.
