In the Season 5 finale of Superstore, Mateo helps Cheyenne plan her 21st birthday party while Amy keeps a California-sized secret from Jonah.

If there’s a bright spot in the fact that only one half of Superstore’s two-part Season 5 finale was completed before production shutdown, it’s that America Ferrera’s imminent departure from the series will be prolonged. Ferrera and her character Amy had been intended to leave the series ahead of Season 6, but we can’t say goodbye to Amy just yet. When we last left Cloud 9, Amy received a phone call with a job interview offer at Zephra corporate—in California. The premature finale finds Amy keeping the news of her potential new job from Jonah with Dina’s help.

In fact, there’s a lot of helping going around Cloud 9 in the Superstore season finale. On the heels of Cheyenne’s 21st birthday celebration, Mateo turns into party planner mode. However, Cheyenne and Mateo have differing ideas on a good time, leading Cheyenne to consult the sage party planning counsel of her husband, Beau. Elsewhere, when Sandra vocalizes her desire to someday adopt a child with Jerry, Glenn steps in with a rapid option to complete their family. Minding his own business isn’t Glenn’s business.
