Four contestants share their songs for Julia Michaels on Songland Season 2, Episode 5. Which song would she pick in the end?

Julia Michaels was the artist on the panel on Songland Season 2, Episode 5. Four songwriters took to the stage to share their creations, but which one would Julia Michaels pick in the end?

Michaels doesn’t need hits from others. She’s one of the most popular songwriters in the world right now. This is a woman who has written for the likes of Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, and many more. Her being on Songland shows her support for up and coming songwriters. It’s what the show is all about.

Four contestants shared their offerings, just like in all other episodes. Keegan Bost took to the stage with “Give It To You,” which certainly had a sound of Shawn Mendes or Justin Bieber. Jenna Lotti took to the stage next with “Sad Girls.” Lotti’s story immediately spoke volumes to Michaels, as they both have suffered from depression and turned to poetry and later to songwriting to help.

Jeremy Shane was the third artist to take to step in front of the judges, who ride shares and babysits kids as a way to make enough money to live in L.A. “Too Late” was his song, which focuses on regrets. While the song is about a guy begging a girl to take him back, there would be a way to twist the lyrics to suit Michaels.

Finally, it was Dan Blake, with his song “Numb.” While the melody got a lot of praise, there were lyrics that were extremely personal to Blake. Michaels shared that she’d have to find a way to make it personal to her.

Jeremy Shane was the one to go home before getting to the point of working with the other songwriters. But who would be the pick in the end?

In the end, the development Keegan Bost’s “Give It To You” experienced became just the style and personal story that Julia Michaels thought would fit her the best.
