Here are five things we learned from the first Love, Victor trailer

Hulu (finally) dropped the first full trailer for Love, Victor on Tuesday to give fans a taste of what’s to come when the series premieres on June 19. After being treated to a steamy teaser in April, fans have craved more previews from what’s sure to be a summer hit.

More information has been revealed as we draw closer to the premiere date. We now know that all ten episodes of the first season will be released on the same day. With Pride Month festivities being cancelled this year, those yearning for more LGBTQ+ content can turn on Hulu and binge-watch this follow-up to the hit Love, Simon movie.

Whether you’ve already checked out the trailer, or are just now discovering that there’s two whole minutes of Love, Victor content out there, here are five new things we learned.

Love, Victor trailer: Victor gets involved with the popular girl

Yes, Love, Victor is set in the same high school as Love, Simon, but Victor is new to town after his family moved in from Texas. Moving to a new school will be no easy task for the titular character, especially when other guys grow envious of his ability to make the most popular girl blush.

The trailer shows several scenes in which Victor and his potential love interest are together. Considering the looks that are shared between them, this is sure to lead to all sorts of drama while Victor navigates his sexuality.

Love, Victor trailer: Victor’s parents have marital issues

When Victor’s not at school or with his new friends, we’ll catch glimpses of him at home with his family. However, his parents seem to be struggling with their marriage. Could this be the reason why they had to relocate?

Figuring out his identity alone is already a struggle before his mom admits, “At least I never have to worry about you.” Talk about pressure, right? Poor Victor may try to hide his identity even longer in an attempt to keep his family together.

Love, Victor trailer: Everyone thinks Victor lives a perfect life

The Love, Victor trailer shines light on how Victor is perceived by his new peers, and it’s not exactly great. The students of Creekwood High think Victor lives a perfect life. He’s got the dream girl falling for him. It looks like he’s going to be a star on the basketball team. They think he has “the world’s most perfect, accepting parents” and “supportive friends.”

While it may appear true on the surface, Victor has a lot going on in his head. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles these perceptions while adjusting to a whole new life.

Love, Victor trailer: Benji has a boyfriend

The aforementioned teaser where Victor and Benji get to know each other at the coffee shop left many wondering what’s up with Benji. Is this going to be a stereotypical case of the closeted protagonist falling for a straight friend? Nope!

The trailer confirms that Benji is confidently out, and it looks like he even has a boyfriend. Hopefully Benji can be someone that Victor can confide in if he’s able to get past his feelings for his potential coworker and classmate.

Love, Victor trailer: We’ll see several familiar faces

Fans of LGBTQ+ movies and shows will recognize a number of faces in Love, Victor. The trailer revealed Tommy Dorfman (13 Reasons Why) will pop up at some point. We also know that Mason Gooding (Booksmart), Bebe Wood (The Real O’Neals), James Martinez (One Day at a Time), and more will have main roles in the new show.

Nick Robinson will be present as the show’s narrator, but it remains to be seen if he’ll actually appear on-screen. However, it’s now confirmed that Keiynan Lonsdale will reprise his role as Bram Greenfeld, aka Blue, aka Simon Spier’s boyfriend!
