Does Echo really believe?

Echo says that she believes in everything that the Disciples believe. She’s certainly drank the Kool-Aid, but could she just be playing things smart?

Part of me thinks Echo may believe the teachings. She’s always followed orders and it’s not been easy for her since she was pulled away from the Grounder way of life. However, she’s also one to survive. She could allow herself to believe just to survive until she can actually find a way to escape.

Will Octavia and Diyoza forgive Echo?

The episode showed that Diyoza and Octavia seem to be focused on fitting in, but that doesn’t mean they believe everything. Something is still holding them back, but they just know that they need to believe to survive right now. They can’t live out their days on Penance alone, never seeing each other again.

The look both gave Echo makes it clear that they haven’t cut all ties yet. They were shocked that Echo sentences Hope to five years on Penance. Were they only expecting one or two? Were they expecting a different punishment? Will they now forgive Echo when and if they get Hope back?
