Moesha seasons 1-6 are now available to stream on Netflix

“Mo to the, E to the…” That’s right, Moesha has finally become available to stream online. The classic UPN sitcom comes to Netflix this month, and it’s time to start binge-watching. After years of waiting for the comedy to stream, all six seasons hit your watch list on Saturday, Aug. 1, the first of a handful of Black comedies making their way to the streaming giant this summer and fall.

Netflix announced that it had picked up the streaming rights to Moesha, along with The Game (seasons 1-3); Sister, Sister; Girlfriends; Moesha spin-off The Parkers; Half & Half; and One on One.

The fan-favorite series will start streaming throughout August, September, and October, ending years of unjust inaccessibility online. These are some of the best comedy throwbacks for a nostalgic binge, and Moesha’s the perfect kickoff.

Grammy Award-winning singer Brandy stars as Moesha Mitchell, a regular teenager living in an upper-middle-class African American family and dealing with the typical highs and lows of being in high school. Speaking her thoughts into her diary at the opening of each episode, Moesha encountered humorous situations with her friends and family and learned a thing or two about important topics most teenagers face.

Will Moesha have a revival on Netflix?

Moesha ran for six successful seasons for a total of 127 episodes. The sitcom helped launch the UPN Network (the underdog sister and competitor to the WB Network), where six of the seven shows Netflix picked up first aired. Ultimately, the series ended on a cliffhanger, leaving a number of storylines unresolved and begging for a revival. Brandy spoke about the potential for a revival on The Real in 2017, though no official plans have come to fruition.

Of course, with all six seasons now streaming on Netflix, renewed interest in the series could certainly fuel the potential for revisiting those cliffhangers, which Brandy again spoke about on Access while promoting her new album B7. And what better place than Netflix to bring the series back? Whether a revival happens or not, it’s still a definite win to have the series, and its fellow throwback Black comedies, available to for every generation watch once again.
