Step Up

The initial movie starring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan was released in 2006. There have been many other movies in the franchise since. When we’re starting with movies like Work It, we’re only focusing on the first movie for now. However, it is worth watching the other movies in the franchise.

While the movie got mostly negative reviews from the critics, it has become a cult classic. It’s a story of support and friendship, as well as having a great underdog story.

Tyler ends up taking the blame for his two friends when caught carrying out a criminal act. He puts that friendship first, which is how he ends up peering in on a dance class and getting to know the finer arts of ballet, a style he’d never usually consider.

We get to see this young man who likes to look like the big guy on campus, but it’s all an act to protect his own feelings. Tyler shows plenty of times that he’s a good guy at heart. It’s not just about taking the blame for friends, but finding a way to make love interest Nora’s dream a reality.

There’s a great message in the movie. If you try your hardest, you can achieve greatness. Oh, and get rid of the attitude!

You can get Step Up on Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes, and other digital platforms.
