Famed comedian Russell Howard is under fire for storming out of a recent show, but despite causing a scene, fellow performers believe he had every right.

Fans will know Russell Howard as not only a professional comedian, but also as a TV presenter, radio host, and actor. The 40-year-old England native began his career back in 2004 when he starting working on the BBC Radio 1 series The Milk Run. Several television gigs later, and he had become a household name.

Nowadays, Russell has been focusing most of his time on live comedy, and is currently in the middle of his Respite stand-up tour. During one of these performances, as reported by the Mirror, is when his recent trouble took place.

The Mirror reports that Russell stormed out of a gig in Bristol, England on the night of August 12 after an audience member began filming the show. The Bristol Post quotes Russell with saying to the female recording, “That’s literally the worst thing you can do.”

After reading about the incident online, many comedians are now rallying around Russell on Twitter, supporting his choice to abandon his performance.

Comedians such as Shappi Khorsandi, Sofie Hagen, and Danny Posthill, among others, were quick to agree with Russell’s storming off. Tweeting out the links to various news coverage on the event, users shared their support.

See Danny Posthill’s tweet below, where he tells Russell that he doesn’t “blame” him. “If the performer wants his stuff recorded he will get it recorded at his own accord,” he wrote.

Russell himself has not responded to the positive reactions on Twitter, but we’re sure he was happy to see the support from his peers.
