The Boys premiered on Amazon Prime Video last summer, and now, the action-packed shenanigans will continue. Next month, the dark superhero series’ second season will finally be streamable. So if you still haven’t jumped on The Boys, I suggest you start watching ASAP.

Season 2 drops on September 4.

Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the Eric Kripke series follows a group of super-flawed, super-powered vigilantes as they face off against other super-powered people using their out-of-this-world abilities for evil. Not good.

On top of saving the world from bad guys, this group of super people must navigate those everyday people problems as well. Well, as everyday as it gets for superheroes. And there’s more. It seems season 3 is already in the works!

The green light for a third season was announced during Comic-Con@Home in late July. Here’s what we know so far about the The Boys season 3.

The Boys season 3 release date

Currently, it hasn’t been announced when the third season will be released. But according to a new report from Collider, filming is scheduled to start in January 2021 and the first four episodes’ scripts are already complete.

The Boys season 3 synopsis

Just like the show’s first seasons, season 3 will be an eight-episode series. But with the cast and crew still somewhat tight-lipped on the details of what’s to come in season 2, it’s not clear where The Boys will go from here. And maybe we shouldn’t get too far ahead of ourselves just yet!

The Boys season 3 cast

Some major names have already confirmed their involvement with season 3. Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, for example, will be reuniting with series creator Eric Kripke, which is kind of a big deal. For those of you who don’t know, Kripke also created Supernatural, serving as arguably Ackles’ biggest role.

As noted by Collider, Kripke still wants Jeffrey Dean Morgan to join the cast, if he’s available. And luckily, there’s still plenty of time to sort it out.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will also be signing on for season 3, continuing their superhero journey as executive producers.

See Ackle’s confirmation of his new role below!
