How many seasons of This is Us will there be?

Ready for season 5 of This is Us? Well, you’re in luck. In about a week, the wait for the critically acclaimed show’s return will be over. The two-hour premiere airs on October 27 and by the looks of it, it is going to be one season fans of the series definitely don’t want to miss.

If you’re just tuning in, here’s the scoop on the award-winning NBC series. The family drama series explores the ever-present emotional ties between the Pearson family, through the lives and lenses of three siblings at different stages of their personal experiences together and apart. It’s notably moving, to say the least.

According to Glamour, season 5 of the unconventional and heartwarming series is all about rebirth. This is Us creator Dan Fogelman explained the show’s turn of events and “new beginnings,” saying:

"I would call it almost a rebirth that will come next season. There will be a lot of new beginnings and particularly the words birth and rebirth are going to be a big thematic part of next season."

Good to know. Apparently, some major current events are going to be addressed as well, reportedly including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

As we await season 5 as patiently as possible, some of the show’s biggest fans really, really want to know how long the show will go on. Or if it will.

When is This is Us ending?

If season 5 is in fact a rebirth as Fogelman says, it’s hard to imagine it’s going to mark the ending of This is Us and the ever unfolding storylines within. With this season, I’m sure we’re about to embark on another promising beginning to dive even deeper into the Pearson family’s past, present, and future experience.

However, the ending of This is Us is unfortunately near. As reported by Good Housekeeping, executive producer Isaac Aptaker revealed to Deadline 2019 that there would be two more seasons after season 4. So, that would mean season 6 will mark the end to the popular series.

That being said, one of the show’s stars, Milo Ventimiglia, hinted during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres show in 2019 that it could go past season 6. As reported by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, he dished:

"The show could have a huge spike in season 6 and everybody wants more beyond that. But I think, creatively, they have an idea of what they’d like to do to wrap it up in this nice story. So at least the audience knows they’re going to get three more seasons. But beyond that, I don’t know."

It seems like we can bank on This is Us ending with season 6, however at the end of the day, anything can happen!
