I can’t talk about keys and lock without thinking of that Supernatural Season 6 line. But that’s not the case here. Sam realizes that he may be able to save Jack but also save the world.

He and Castiel find the way to Billie’s room of books, the ones that tell everyone’s potential endings. While there, we see Meg. Yep, Rachel Miner returned again, although as the Empty, not Meg.

The Empty isn’t happy. It wants the Empty for itself but has turned out that Billie wants to become the new god. There’s always someone who wants to take over as God. It has to make us question whether Jack really needs to die.

Dean chooses his brother

There were moments when it looked like Dean was going to kill Sam just to carry out the plan. Sam tells Dean that Billie taking over will mean everything and everyone will go back to where they belong. That means all those from the apocalypse world will go back to a place that doesn’t exist. Eileen will die again.

Dean doesn’t care. Not at first. He’s willing to sacrifice it all to get Chuck. But is he willing to sacrifice Sam?

That stops Dean in his tracks. After all this time, Dean will still choose his brother. They will find another way to deal with the Chuck situation. They’ll need to think fast, though. Chuck is now extra powerful and Jack is on the verge of dying.
