All six seasons of Dawson’s Creek are streaming on Netflix

There’s no better time to visit the quaint small town of Capeside, Massachusetts than in the fall, which makes it all the more fitting that Dawson’s Creek will become available to stream on Netflix at the top of November.

Beginning on Sunday, Nov. 1, you can start a long-overdue binge-watch of all six seasons and relive every memorable moment, love triangle, and SAT-level word.

The classic teen drama, one of the greatest shows to hail from The WB, makes its grand return to Netflix two years after the cast reunited to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary with Entertainment Weekly. After launching its four leads into stardom and creating one of the most iconic love triangles in TV history, Dawson’s Creek will always define a generation and have a special place in our hearts.

What is Dawson’s Creek about?

For those who didn’t grow up watching the beloved teen drama, Dawson’s Creek centers on a group of four friends: Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek), Joey Potter (Katie Holmes), Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson), and Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams).

As they come of age in Capeside, they encounter all kinds of average adolescent issues and unpack their experiences with a heightened sense of intelligence television doesn’t always afford to teenagers.

As the central four characters endured the ups and downs of high school and moved onto college for the final two seasons, the series tackled topics and themes that remain relatable at any age.

Perhaps the strongest quality the series committed to was being unafraid to test the limits of storytelling, whether certain episodes tried on horror for size or trapped Joey and Pacey in a grocery store overnight. Even though the teen drama genre has evolved, an oldie can still be a goodie.

Will the original theme song be on Netflix?

Unfortunately, the original theme song for Dawson’s Creek won’t accompany the series on Netflix.  Due to licensing issues behind the scenes at Sony, fans won’t be able to sing along to the familiar tune of “I Don’t Want to Wait” by Paula Cole. Sure, that might take the wind out of your binge-watching sails, but since most people tend to press that enticing “skip into” option, it won’t matter much. But hey, it’s available on streaming, so queue it up for the same effect.

On Netflix, you’ll hear “Run Like Mad” by Jann Arden, the theme song used on the DVD releases of the show. It’s disappointing that a large and meaningful part of the show’s legacy, an incredible song that deserves to be heard a paid for, has been benched because of corporate red tape.

Let’s hope in the future, Sony will realize the impact of the song and its connection to the series, renegotiate with Cole, and give the people what they want: a nostalgic singalong.
