These are the top 3 Christmas episodes from The Office to stream on Netflix before 2021.

We have one week until Greg Daniel’s 2005 comedy TV series The Office exits Netflix and it’s time to soak up the show’s best episodes–namely, their funny and festive Christmas specials. There are seven specials total, two containing duo parts.

Since holiday festivities might now allow all of us to binge-watch 180 or more hours of The Office’s Santa-antics, we narrowed the list down to the top 3 Christmas episodes from The Office to stream on Netflix before we say our goodbyes to a favorite, feel-good show.

On Jan. 1, 2021, The Office will officially be rerouted to NBC’s Peacock streaming service, forcing fans loyal to Netflix to bid farewell to the unconventional characters that have been a saving grace during the pandemic. Though, seasons 1 and 2 will still be free to view.

But, before rounding the corner of the new year, let’s end on a cheery, jolly note, taking one last look at Dwight and Jim’s psychological snowball distress, Phyllis’ bold blackmail, a drunken Meredith’s flaming hair, and Michael’s classy, but cringe-worthy, Christmas party for Holly.

There are still plenty of laughs to be had as a very unlaughable 2020 closes its time on calendars. So, check out the top 3 Christmas episodes from The Office to stream on Netflix before entering 2021.

Moroccan Christmas: Season 5, Episode 11

After Phyllis catches Dwight and an engaged Angela having an affair in the office, she promises not to tell anyone, as long as Angela makes her the head of the Party Planning Committee. This agreement leads to the Season 5 office party, “Moroccan Christmas” (Episode 11).

Phyllis goes all out, decorating Dunder Mifflin in colorful curtains, pillows, Moroccan instruments and plenty of alcohol. As Michael gets experimental with mixing drinks, Meredith goes overboard, per usual, and lights her hair on fire. The rest of the episode centers around both Phyllis blackmailing a distraught Angela and Michael trying to force Meredith into rehab.

The Office seasons 1 through 3 had plenty of great Christmas content, but the show was still working on finding its place in comedy. The second season’s “Christmas Party” had a lot of emphasis on Michael as a cry-baby and his constant rejection of Phyllis’ hand-made oven mitts was just plain uncomfortable and almost too much.

Then, “A Benihana Christmas” in Season 3 was mostly about how Michael was willing to date anyone for companionship, mixing up two underage Benihana employees during their office party.

But the fifth season’s “Moroccan Christmas,” also known as “not your grandmother’s Christmas party…unless she’s from Morocco,” showed well-thought-out comedy bits that highlighted the best of already grown and developed Office characters.

Jim’s prank to Christmas-wrap a model of Dwight’s desk became a classic Office highlight, and Phyllis’ long-time desire to take over the Party Planning Committee finally manifested, even if it was through blackmailing Angela, who had it coming.

Oh, and Dwight also spends the party selling off already purchased Princess Unicorn dolls to desperate parents, like Toby. This episode is definitely full of odd holiday spirit, and that’s what makes it one of the top 3 Christmas episodes from The Office to stream on Netflix.

Secret Santa: Season 6, Episode 13

The opening for this Christmas special, “Secret Santa” featured a surprisingly relatable Dwight, whose quote embodies how we’ve all been feeling during the 2020 holidays: “I’m just tired. The days are short…I don’t know…maybe I’m depressed.”

It’s one of the few episodes where Jim and Dwight aren’t at each other’s throats, but that’s likely because there’s plenty of comedy packed into this episode already. Andy is new receptionist Erin’s secret Santa and he pulled out all the stops, gifting her the 12 Days of Christmas, complete with real geese and calling birds.

Unfortunately for Erin, it hasn’t been going well, her cate killing one of the turtle doves, the french hens pulling out her hair to make a nest. The humor for Erin, who is normally nothing but naively sweet, in this episode is in fine form and makes it one of the top 3 Christmas episodes from The Office to stream on Netflix.

On top of that, Michael has a Santatantrum over Phyllis fulfilling yet another long-time dream of hers, to be Santa Clause, and Michael instead becomes Jesus Christ–eliciting rare applause from Angela and heckling the entire office in spite, being quick to label Toby as the Anti-Christ.

But this special has plenty of feel-good, Christmas spirit moments, with Pam playing matchmaker for the only two gay men she knows in the office, kissing Santas, and a drum-tastic ending to Andy’s Christmas gift to Erin.

Classy Christmas (Part 1 & 2): Season 7, Episode 11 &12

This is Michael’s last Christmas episode before he quits his job to move out of state with Holly and, as his last holiday hora, the story is packed with fresh, upside down humor: Jim falling victim to aggressive snowball pranks from Dwight, Oscar realizing Angela’s new state senator boyfriend is gay, Toby becoming the popular guy in the office and a normally kind Erin has it out for a returning Holly.

While the seventh season’s Christmas special has plenty of cringe-worthy moments we’d rather look away for–Michael defacing Holly’s Woody doll with salad and blue cheese dressing and Toby using a serial killer’s crimes to become friends with his coworkers–it also contains some of the funniest lines in the show, like Michael thanking the Scranton Strangler for Holly’s return, as it means Toby needs to serve on Jury duty.

“Thank you Scranton Stranger! You just took one more person’s breath away.”

Though Holly and Michael’s Clint Eastwood impressions were humorously pretty terrible and there’s a genuine friendship moment between Michael and Pam, it’s Dwight and Jim’s snowball fight that takes center stage on the comedic side of this holiday party.

After Jim pelts Dwight in the face with a snowball, Dwight challenges Jim to a serious snowball fight, Dwight utilizing trick present boxes, wigs to pretend to be others in the office and a real snowman to infiltrate Jim’s defenses and attack him with snowballs. At the end of the episode, Jim–sporting a bloody nose from battle–has to face an army of snowmen outside the office.

In Dwight’s words, “In the end, the greatest snowball isn’t a snowball at all, it’s fear. Merry Christmas.”
