What’s next for Grace on 9-1-1: Lone Star?

Grace learned a hurtful truth on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2, Episode 5. What’s next for her on the series? What will this do to her story?

Grace Ryder is the best thing about 9-1-1: Lone Star. She’s kind, compassionate, and willing to do whatever it takes to help those on the other end of the phone. If I’m ever in need of 9-1-1, I want a dispatcher like Grace on the other side.

In the most recent episode, she heard what wasn’t being said on a call. A woman called 9-1-1 for help with her abusive ex but asked for pizza instead of saying the real problem. Grace figured it out quickly, making sure the victim got the help she needed.

That call helped her figure out what Judd wasn’t saying to her. Earlier in the episode, he’d found out his father-in-law was having an affair.

Are things okay between Grace and Judd on 9-1-1: Lone Star?

Let’s just start with this because this is one of those shows that doesn’t have a bad couple. They are all awesome in their own ways.

Grace has always been there for Judd, and she has always been open and honest with him. When she needed him to be, he couldn’t.

Of course, later Grace was the one that couldn’t be honest. She couldn’t tell her mom what she knew about her dad, knowing what it would do to her mom.

This could hint that Judd and Grace will make it through this patch. Grace knows that Judd didn’t want to hurt her, but she’s struggling too much to see through that just yet. I think their relationship will depend on the next part of Grace’s journey, because this isn’t over yet.

How will Grace develop after learning the truth?

Learning your parents don’t love each other is one thing. Learning one of them is having an affair is another. It’s heartbreaking. And how do you tell the other parent that their spouse is sleeping with other people?

Grace is likely to be weighed down by this secret. She’s a Christian, and here is this man she looked up to in her life breaking one of the 10 Commandments. He’s breaking his vows to his wife. It’s everything Grace believes in; everything they as a family believe in.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we go through a depression storyline for Grace. Her world she knew is crumbling, and she’ll possibly struggle to make sense of it all. And then she’ll feel like Judd didn’t have her back, even though he’s not the one who she should be angry toward.

If it’s not depression, there’s a chance she’ll face a crisis of faith. And she has few people to turn to, except Judd, who she is currently angry toward.

Judd needs to keep his eyes open to make sure he can help Grace when she needs him. She was there for him when he struggled with the survivor’s guilt at the start of the series. Now it’s time for Judd to be there for his wife.
