During The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, we found out who our next Bachelorettes would be. Yes, there will be two on The Bachelorette in 2021.

It was certainly an awkward After the Final Rose special. There were a lot of topics to discuss, including the elephant in the room. It turns out that while Matt chose Rachael in the end, they’re not together anymore. And yes, the Antebellum party has everything to do with it.

The good thing that came from the special was getting to see who the next Bachelorette would be. And ABC has opted for two Bachelorettes, Michelle and Katie.

Is this going to be the same as The Bachelorette Season 16? Fans will remember that Clare left the show after deciding she didn’t want to string the men along and wanted to choose Dale. That led to Tayshia Adams to join the series to pick her man.

Would ABC opt for this a second time around? That’s something many feared, including Michelle Young, and she wasn’t sure how to feel about that.

Two seasons of The Bachelorette back to back

Instead of two Bachelorettes in one season, we’re getting two seasons of The Bachelorette back to back, according to TVLine. This is possibly to counter issues with the pandemic. It could also be simply to help shake things up a lot.

Katie Thurston will take on the lead for The Bachelorette Season 17, which will air during summer 2021. This season will also not see Chris Harrison as the host. Instead, Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will take on co-host roles, which could actually be a good thing for a show with a female lead.

Many fans will be happy about the choice. Katie was a positive voice in the house, routinely calling out bullying and not really treating the house as a place for drama. She was focused on the competition while still being friendly and took the bullying issues to Matt even though she knew it could have ruined everything for her.

Meanwhile, Michelle was certainly the fan-favorite for Matt’s season. Instead, she’s going to get to choose her man during The Bachelorette Season 18. The season will air during fall 2021, and the hosts haven’t been announced just yet. Harrison says that he isn’t leaving the franchise completely, but ABC may make other decisions due to the controversy.

Let’s be honest, Michelle was the woman we wanted to see Matt choose in the end. During the After the Finale Rose special, she made it clear to Matt that all she wanted at the very end was closure and he couldn’t do that. She was consistently calm and joyful to watch, so the upcoming season is going to be exciting.
