HBO Max’s Friends reunion special is getting close to finally being a reality and Matthew Perry just gave fans their first look from the set!
Earlier this week, reports surfaced which suggested HBO Max was finally about to film the long in the works special set to reunite our favorite TV friends. The show’s original six cast members–Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry are all set to return for the forthcoming special which we now know is currently taping thanks to an accidental social media slip-up from Perry.
On Saturday, April 10, Perry took to his Instagram account where he posted a photo on location confirming the special was underway. In the since-deleted photo snapped from the makeup trailer, Perry confirmed he was on set getting ready to reunite with his Friends writing, “Seconds before eating a makeup brush. Not to mention reuniting with my Friends.”
While Perry was quick to delete the photo from his feed, the photo has quickly gotten the Friends fandom buzzing with excitement in knowing taping is officially underway on the special!
When is the Friends reunion taping?
HBO Max has not yet confirmed when the Friends reunion special will be filming; however, between Matthew Perry’s leaked photo from the set and the original report from Deadline suggesting filming was about to begin it seems taping on the special began in mid-April.
Friends reunion HBO Max release date
At this time, HBO Max has not yet announced a release date for its Friends reunion special. Given filming on the HBO Max Friends reunion special is unfolding this April, one has to imagine a release date for the long-anticipated should not be far away. Considering the show took its final curtain call on May 6, 2004, perhaps HBO Max might aim for an early May release timed to date the series finale aired.
