We learn a lot about the players on The Circle season 2, but one thing not a single player or host, Michelle Buteau, speak about is the pandemic. Why are they pretending like all is fine outside their apartment?

Drama, lies, and tea spill in every episode of The Circle season 2. But one thing everyone is quiet about is COVID-19.

According to Refinery 29The Circle season 2 was most definitely filmed in 2020. In fact, season 2 and season 3 wrapped around November 2020, so well into the pandemic. So why does no one mention how difficult (and shocking) life has become since?

How has COVID-19 hurt their jobs, families, everyday life? I would say this is pretty important. Some players would even bond over stories, but we do understand this decision.

The Circle season 2 and the pandemic

While we are not sure exactly why the players were told not to talk about the pandemic as nothing has been officially released, it’s not tough to guess!

I do believe talking about would help some players bond, but I do prefer the pandemic stays out of the game so that we, the audience, can sort of step away from our reality. Another reason could be so that the players could focus more on the game and escape from the outside world, as well.

Not to mention, this season will not be known as “the pandemic season.” What do you think? Do you prefer it as is or do you think it should have been mentioned?
