NCIS Season 18, Episode 13 found the team investigating a hit and run that had ties to a man named Parker James, who was on trial for running a ponzi scheme and stealing millions from Navy sailors. The case hinges on the testimony of the agent who heard his confession, Agent Gibbs. Of course, the problem now is since Gibbs had been arrested, his accountability is in question.

After Petty Officer Michael Benson is killed in a hit and run, the team finds evidence that he was the unintended victim of a targeted hit directed towards his biking partner, Bernard Wilson. Wilson had been an accountant for Parker James and was due to testify in his trial.

Unfortunately, by the time the team figures out the connection, whoever killed Benson had realized their mistake and killed him in his garage.

Vance does not think it is a good idea to have Gibbs testify, but the latter is determined to see the case through. Even though his ponzi scheme case is on the brink of disaster, the team may still be able to catch him on murder-for-hire charges, if they can make it stick.

NCIS Season 18, Episode 13 shows how Gibbs’s actions affect cases

There are two possible suspects, the ex-wife or the new girlfriend. As to who ended up doing it, it was so obvious that it only hit afterwards that they made it clear who the person was. But seeing Gibbs look that confident in his team’s abilities just made it sweeter.

Of course, Gibbs’s testimony does lead to James being found not guilty. It shows that actions do have consequences and we’re sure if he were to come back to NCIS that he would have to be careful in future cases.

But are they setting it up to where he does something different? It certainly looks like he is investigating something. Maybe it has something to do with his new reporter friend.

Either way, we’re getting closer to the finale and hopefully will have answers soon about what Gibbs’ plans are on going back to work or not.
