Sad news, Chicago Med fans: While the majority of the NBC medical drama’s cast is expected to return for the show’s seventh season, two of its original actors are set to exit the series.

Yaya DaCosta and Torrey Devitto have been a part of the Chicago Med crew since the show made its debut in 2015. However, Deadline is reporting they won’t be making a return to the halls of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, which means fans will be saying goodbye to ER Nurse April Sexton and emergency pediatrics specialist Dr. Natalie Manning very soon.

The news comes on the heels of ongoing contract negotiations for the original cast whose contracts will lapse come the end of season 6.

There’s been no news on whether fans should expect more departures, however, S. Epatha Merkerson (Sharon Goodwin) and Oliver Platt (Daniel Charles) are reported to be returning for season 7. As are Marlyne Barrett (Maggie Lockwood), Brian Tee (Ethan Choi), and Nick Gehlfuss (Will Halstead), though they, along with Platt, are still negotiating their contracts to continue on in the show.

Next projects for Chicago Med’s Yaya DaCosta and Torrey Devitto

While fans will be sad to see both DaCosta and Devitto go, the two actors do have upcoming projects to be excited about.

DaCosta has been tapped to lead the Fox series Our Kind of People, a Lee Daniels project based on the book Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class. She’ll star as Angela Vaughn in the drama, a woman who has her sights set on reclaiming her family name through her haircare line. Along the way, she discovers a dark secret involving her mother and the Oak Bluffs community she once was a part of.

Devitto’s next role will be in the film Skelly, where an 11-year old boy becomes obsessed with death after his grandfather’s death. She’ll play the boy’s mom who supports him in his endeavor to put on the annual haunted house with his friend. The movie is expected to premiere in time for Halloween this year.
