In five, four, three, two, one… It’s almost time to rejoin the iCarly gang for the Paramount+ revival series, which reunites the cast for more web show shenanigans.

The original series, also called iCarly, first premiered on Nickelodeon in 2007 and lasted for just shy of 100 episodes until its series finale in 2021. Although it was succeeded by the one-and-done spin-off Sam & Cat, the original has never waned in popularity.

Paramount+ announced the revival had been greenlit in December 2020, which came as something of a surprise to fans, as word of bringing back the fan-favorite series hadn’t been on the radar. But it’s a pleasant surprise nonetheless. Who would ever turn down laughs?

Thankfully, the iCarly revival Season 1 will soon premiere and smack us with all of the nostalgia. When will the update premiere, and which familiar faces can we expect to see? For all the information you need to know about the revival, leave it all to us.

iCarly revival Season 1 release date

The highly-anticipated revival of iCarly will make its debut on Paramount+ in summer 2021. As announced by Miranda Cosgrove’s birthday cake, the first three episodes of the season premiere on Thursday, June 17. The remaining episodes will debut weekly.

iCarly revival Season 1 cast

As previously reported, much of the original series’s main cast will reprise their roles. Of course, Cosgrove returns in the titular role of Carly Shay, while Jerry Trainor stars as Carly’s older brother Spencer and Nathan Kress stars as Carly’s best friend Freddie Benson.

Unfortunately, Jennette McCurdy will not return as the beloved Sam Puckett, per her decision to retire from acting. The series welcomes newcomers to the cast, including Laci Mosley as Carly’s roommate and best friend Harper and Jaidyn Triplett as Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent. Also expect to see drop-ins from Gibby, Freddie’s mom, and Carly’s stalker.

iCarly revival Season 1 synopsis

The iCarly revival picks up with Carly about 10 years after the conclusion of the original series, and Cosgrove teases lots of changes for her character: Carly has graduated from college, ended her popular online show, and moved into the same building as Spencer and Freddie.

Speaking of Spencer and Freddie, one has found success (Spencer) and the other is divorced and living with him mother (Freddie). The series seems devoted to producing a revival for the fans of the original series and staying true to what Carly would be going through as a 26-year-old still figuring it all out.

If you’re wondering what’s to become of Carly’s career as a YouTuber, she decides to log back on and find her voice in a totally changed social media landscape. As a pioneer of the online movement, it’ll be interesting to see how iCarly navigates the online space with a renewed sense of humor for an older audience.
