Black Lightning Season 5 premiere date, cast, trailer, synopsis, and more

Eyes are on the future of Black Lightning. Sadly, The CW has decided the fourth season is the last, but could Black Lightning Season 5 happen elsewhere?

The CW brought us the disappointing news back in November 2020. Black Lightning Season 4 is going to be the last, and it looks like there’s been time for the writers to craft a fitting ending.

It’s not the end for all the characters just yet, though. Season 4 brought us the Painkiller spin-off, which we’re still waiting on The CW to make a decision about. However, for Jefferson Pierce and his superfamily, the show has come to an end.

That is on The CW. We’d still love it if Netflix would step in and save the day. As it’s a Warner Bros. TV Studios production, it could even head to HBO Max. Could Black Lightning Season 5 still happen in some way. That’s what we’re looking at.

Black Lightning Season 5 premiere date

As there’s no confirmed fifth season, there is no premiere date. We’d be looking at about a year or 18 months from the renewal if it did happen for a streaming platform. After all, streaming platforms have a binge model or a hybrid model which means all episodes need to be ready at once.

With that in mind, it would be summer 2022 at the very earliest if Black Lightning Season 5 was to happen anywhere.

We’d hope the whole cast would return for the new season if it happened elsewhere. There are a few characters that we can’t do without. Of course, this depends on how the series finale ends. There wouldn’t be a series without:

  • Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce / Black Lightning
  • China Anne McClain and Laura Kariuki as Jennifer Pierce / Lightning
  • Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce / Thunder / Blackbird
  • Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart
  • Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale
  • James Remar as Peter Gambi

There isn’t a trailer just yet. If the show is saved by another network, we’ll be sure to bring the trailer when it drops.

We wouldn’t even know where to start with the fifth season since we don’t know how Season 4 is set to end.
